The Wollondilly Shire Council Government Services Building in Picton, NSW features a terracotta and aluminium facade designed by Williams Ross Architects, Studio STH and built by Kane Constructions.

Designed as part of Stage 2 of the Wollondilly Cultural Precinct master plan, the terracotta cladding was carefully chosen to meet the council’s brief for a welcoming, sustainable, and modern civic hub. The material’s natural texture and earthy tones help the building blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

The choice of a terracotta facade is a foundational element in helping the project target a 5-Star NABERS rating. Under Wollondilly Shire Council’s Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) and “Passive Design” mandates, the materials help deliver several critical environmental benefits as below:

2. Rainscreen Ventilation
3. Lifecycle and Low Embodied Carbon
4. Zero Maintenance
