PROJECT SUMMARY

This refurbishment was undertaken by Metz Project Services, to replace the membrane/lining of this water tank underneath a carpark.

All works were completed under full confined-space requirements, with strict safety protocols, daily documentation, and an established rescue plan in place.

Mechanical removal of the existing membrane proved impractical due to its excessive thickness, so Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water blasting was used to fully remove the old coating.

After the high-pressure removal, the remaining material was mechanically ground back, the interior fully rendered and bandaged, and the tank prepared with a range of Metz primers and coatings. The system was then finished with two coats of Metz 9HB high build epoxy, and a reinforced landing pad with a slip resistant finish was installed beneath the internal ladder.

All equipment had to be lowered manually due to the tank’s location being beneath a car park, adding to the complexity of the confined-space conditions. Despite these challenges Metz completed the refurbishment to a high standard, and the client expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
