PROJECT SUMMARY

Our client was looking to repurpose an existing storage warehouse for use as an active production area. This required works to protect the underlying concrete substrate, as the existing floor was not designed to contain spills or withstand ongoing exposure to production materials. Left unprotected, the substrate would be susceptible to staining, surface breakdown and deterioration, resulting in difficult clean-up and costly remediation works. Effective containment was also essential, as without perimeter bunding, spills could migrate beyond the work area and reduce control within the production space.

To achieve this, Metz installed new flooring and a perimeter bunding system designed to contain spills and protect the substrate. A brick perimeter bund was constructed along the internal edges of the warehouse to provide physical containment. The floor and bund system were then prepared and coated with Metz 4HB-EN epoxy novolac, providing a durable, chemical-resistant surface suitable for production activities, with a heavy-duty slip resistant aggregate finish incorporated to enhance safety in the working environment.

The completed works transformed the storage warehouse into a functional production space, delivering effective spill containment, protection of the concrete substrate, and improved durability and ease of cleaning. The facility is now fit for purpose as a production area, reducing the risk of substrate damage and ongoing maintenance while supporting day-to-day operations.
