PROJECT SUMMARY

Metz were contracted to install a new lining for this 600 m² caustic bund at a water treatment plant. The facility required new, seamless, chemical-resistant system. The lining had to be able to withstand prolonged caustic exposure, protecting the concrete and allow for movement joints.

Metz first inspected the concrete and filled bug holes and voids in the walls and floor with Metz Epoxy Primer, leaving no defects that could let chemicals behind the lining. Metz 33EN-VG was applied to the bund and plinth walls, its vertical-grade formulation allowing full film build without sagging. Metz 33EN-TG was trowelled onto the floor and plinths for a robust, high-build surface in the highest-traffic areas. Once cured, the whole bund was rolled with Metz 4HB-EN epoxy novolac as the primary chemical barrier. Movement joints were sealed with Metz 8 to absorb thermal and structural movement without cracking and to stop chemicals bypassing the lining.

The result is a fully sealed, inspectable bund that contains caustic materials in line with secondary containment requirements and is built for a long service life
